1,900 sign petition against massive town centre plan

NEARLY 1,900 people have now signed the petition against the revised Garden Street scheme – the single biggest development planned for Hebden Bridge town centre for more than 50 years.
The developers of the £10 million scheme for the homes, flats, automated underground car stacker, parking spaces, shops and enterprise start units claim some statements in the petition are ”misleading” and have listed what they say are the facts behind the scheme on a website.

Despite the pouring rain last Saturday, the Action Group against Garden Street Development collected 150 signatures at a stall in St George’s Square to add to the 282 collected the previous week against the scheme.
